A Man with a Cat narrates unusual and sometimes forgotten works of English language Non-Fiction, Poetry and Prose.

The Crusades. Part One - The People’s Crusade.

May 5, 2019

In this Season of Esoteric Reads, I'm reading "Extraordinary Popular Delusions and The Madness of Crowds" by Charles Mackay, first published in 1841. On tonight's episode, we discuss the Crusades, reading from the first part of Mackay's chapter on the subject concerning "The People's Crusade", also called "The Peasants' Crusade", "Paupers' Crusade" or "Popular Crusade". This one doesn't have any Knights Templar in it, but it does have tens of thousands of people being killed by Hungarians.
